Who are we South Kesteven District Council has a Community Energy Efficiency Fund (CEEF) team, one of 48 new energy efficiency projects across England that has received funding from Defra. The team can help all owner occupiers and private tenants in South Kesteven to ensure they are assisted to feel warmer and more comfortable by providing a co-ordinated set of advice and energy efficiency measures.
Where are we
South Kesteven District is situated in the South West Lincolnshire, bordering Rutland, Nottinghamshire and Peterborough. It is a large rural district with dispersed market towns at Grantham, Bourne, Stamford and the Deepings. The district has 48,770 private dwellings.
What do we do
The residents of South Kesteven who are owner occupiers or private tenants can take advantage of the advice available from the CEEF team. If you are a private landlord, your rented properties could benefit from the scheme if the tenants living in them meet the benefits eligibility.
Various levels of heating and insulation grants could be available whether you are currently receiving benefits or not. The Team can signpost you to the most appropriate scheme available.
An energy advisor can make home visits and recommend a package of heating and insulation improvements tailored to the householders individual needs. In addition, the Benefits Advisor can check if the householder is missing out on any benefits.
Even if householders are not receiving any benefits, they could still be eligible for insulation grant, energy efficiency advice and the benefits check.
Everyone over the age of 70 is now eligible for free cavity wall and loft insulation.
What have we done
In the 3 months from November 2007 to January 2008, the team has referred over 120 households for free insulation and other energy saving measures, 30 for discounted insulation and 160 for benefits advice
Since the introduction of free insulation for over 70’s the team have been busy promoting this through coffee mornings and leaflet distribution.
