The number of homes occupied by vulnerable households that were made decent by local authority assistance.

The data has been supplied at postcode level and aggregated to census output area and upwards. Because of either errors in the data or recent changes in postcodes not all cases have been matched to a census output area. The percentage of cases that have been matched are:

  • Year 2006-07 - 98.1%
  • Quarter 1 2007-08 - 97.0%
  • Quarter 2 2007-08 - 96.9%

There are a number of cases where postcodes cross census output area boundaries. In these cases the data has been allocated to the census output area containing the centroid of the postcode.

The following indicators have been updated based on the information supplied:

  • Number of vulnerable households living in decent homes
  • The number of homes occupied by vulnerable households to be made decent to meet the target of 70 percent of vulnerable households living in decent homes.

The baseline used for these indicators is either:

  • data from the Building Research Establishment Stock Model  where no house condition survey results have been supplied to Hi4em
  • data from loacl authority house condition surveys carried out since 2003 where the results have been supplied to Hi4em

In both cases the Fitness Standard has been used rather than Housing Health and Safety Rating System - HHSRS - category 1 hazards. These figures will be updated in due course to include HHSRS rather than the Fitness Standard.

The updated indicators do not include local authority assistance to make homes decent prior to 1 April 2006 and do not include homes made decent through Warm Front Grants.
